- On Thursday, July 25, 2013, during a call on skype, Sam Tindal pitched the idea to Ben Ackley about doing a prologue to Thomas' Adventures with SamTheThomasFan1 & Ackleyattack4427, then Ben accepted the idea and is in development on the movie.
- On Sunday, July 28, 2013, 3 days after the idea was pitched, the announcement on the movie was made on Thomas & Friends: Island of Sodor Adventures' official facebook page with the script starting to be written out the following day.
- Based on the events, the backstory told in the movie takes place before the settings of the series.
